In case you’ve wondered if I practice what I preach, I took a few snapshots around my house today..
All except the metal in the dining room are traditional canvas, stretched on 1 1/2″ wooden frames, 16 x 16″ to 24 x 36″ – go big or go home, in this case, both! Just two are my own pets. I’m a firm believer in only having things on your walls that you love, things that bring you joy. In my house it is mostly photos of my kids and clients, with a few other pieces that I just love. Oh, and also a canvas I brought home from a garage sale that my husband says looks like the Apocolypse…Oops! Not to push the minimalist over the edge, but our homes often have wall space we don’t see – think over doorways and bookcases, between windows – in addition to the traditional space over the sofa. Often the size people are most familiar with (8 x10″) is what they think of first. These fortunate felines and catered-to canines are so lucky to live with Ms. Sherry and her family! A more genuine, kind, animal loving person you will not find.

Titan and Chai
I love a happy ending…especially when it is more beginning than ending! Meet Titan and Chai, a couple of rescue puppies that have found their forever home. Titan is an 11 month old American Staffordshire Terrier, who came to Port Orchard from a California shelter. He is currently taking obedience classes, and his people have high hopes for his higher education, and what he will do beyond the basics (modeling, perhaps?). Titan is a big, sweet love! He is also passionate about making his sister, Chai (just 5 1/2 months!), feel comfortable and confident. These two love to play! Chai has some agility in her future. And seriously, those eyes! Those ears! It was all too much for this pet photographer! I was fortunate to meet them at Jackson Park in Port Orchard last week for a session, on a beautiful, sunny day.
Supermodels on Superbowl Sunday
Absolutely the only downside to being a pet photographer is massive pet envy, and it’s not easy being green. Carmen and Hurley (Mastiff!) are not only good looking, they have the mellow demeanor of their human caretaker and I love, love them! They also share their home with 2 human teenagers and 4 kitties – one elusive feline is not pictured, but I think you have to agree, these three are super photogenic! Thank you, A, for welcoming me into your home, and allowing me to play with the four foots!
I get by with a little help from my friends…
It can be hard to be the blog dog…in the rainy winter months… when you’re the muse and your person is working on some new techniques…it’s good to have some supportive (and cozy) friends!
This photo got me thinking especially today about all the friends who have helped me with my business – whether you trusted me to capture images of your furbabies and kids, watched my kiddos so I could so I could take those photos, shared some knowledge, listened to my ideas, showed my work to your friends, advised me in a workshop setting, printed products I was proud to deliver, “liked” my Facebook page (www.FB.com/FourFootPhotography), subscribed to the blog (click “Follow” up above!), participated in a contest or provided an opportunity for me to display some samples at your event or business, I COULDN’T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU! A frustrating effort…
But so worth it to review all the great times I had with so many gorgeous furbabies in 2011! My thanks to my clients, friends, family and all the furry, hairy, wagging, purring, drooling, whinny-ing buddies I got to meet! I love seeing these sweet things loved and cared for. I love, love the connection this sweet girl has with her momma. She is getting older, and lost her sister last year, so mom felt it was important, even in the midst of major life chaos right now, to get some photos.
I think this is my new favorite picture.
