Sunday, September 15 was the date for this year’s PAWS Wagfest at Battle Point Park on beautiful Bainbridge Island! It is one of my favorite events, so my enthusiasm was up, despite having attended ANOTHER of my faves, Harbor Hounds in Gig Harbor, just the day before, and logging 7 hours of driving time (mainly for childcare) in just over 24 hours. The weather was a bit dicey, and we ended up having some early thunder and rain, although the big nasties held off until later in the day. Huge shout out to my friend Jen Vroom, who attended both events with me, and brought coffee! I was so impressed with the stoic canines who were nonplussed by the thunder, and their human companions who came out to support PAWS of Bainbridge and all the good work they do for the animals. There was a terrific group of vendors and I saw several of my fave fourfoots – notably Dexter, Tucci and Casey, who were featured on my acrylic samples, and made some new friends, too! Super fun events included contests for best costume, waggiest tail, look-a-like, biscuit stacking (human), tricks, pie eating (canine), and the ever popular races. Voting was held and awards were also presented to winners of the fundraising Picture Your Pet contest, and those who raised the most for PAWS. Generally I am near my booth, photographing the attendees, but in this case was asked to document the events – I had only brought one lens, but the images will give you an idea of the fun that is had, and I hope to see you there next year!
Four Foot Photography will be at Chinook Park in Ocean Shores Saturday, August 25, 9:30-3:30 in support of Woof-A-Thon, to raise money for North Beach PAWS to update the dog kennels. We will be offering mini sessions for $25 – for that $25 you will receive an 8×10 print in the mail and the opportunity to order additional prints/product from that shot from our ala carte menu (Christmas cards, canvas, acrylic, metals, float wraps, etc), and a $25 credit off the full session fee, should you choose to book a session at a later date. “Like” our Facebook page to see a gallery of images from the event! Hope to see you there!
In case you were thinking you were out of luck if you don’t have four feet and a furry face, meet Amy, an aspiring actress who works for Ruth King at Mud Bay (ok, so she does have a pet connection…). I did some work for Ruth last year, and she has been most gracious about passing along my contact information (and the Gig Harbor store has a small display where you can pick up a business card. They have GREAT products if you haven’t been there, GO!). Amy needed head shots for a casting director she is working with. She hopes to work on television, and is about the cutest thing you ever saw. After some dynamic weather, we met in downtown Tacoma and here are a few of the shots she will be sending out for parts she would like, and also a few of my personal favorites. It was super fun, and we were fortunate enough to meet a kind security guard who found us a place with electricity so Amy could straighten her naturally curly hair for a different look. I got back to my car maybe a minute before it started to rain. Perfect!
It can be hard to be the blog dog…in the rainy winter months… when you’re the muse and your person is working on some new techniques…it’s good to have some supportive (and cozy) friends!
This photo got me thinking especially today about all the friends who have helped me with my business – whether you trusted me to capture images of your furbabies and kids, watched my kiddos so I could so I could take those photos, shared some knowledge, listened to my ideas, showed my work to your friends, advised me in a workshop setting, printed products I was proud to deliver, “liked” my Facebook page (www.FB.com/FourFootPhotography), subscribed to the blog (click “Follow” up above!), participated in a contest or provided an opportunity for me to display some samples at your event or business, I COULDN’T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU! Thanks for the love.
“Momma, you ‘upposed to take pictures of DOGS for you work. Where dogs?” My three year old (with a mild speech impediment, but she’s 3, it’s ok) asked in surprise yesterday while I was working on the post with pictures of Baby E (below, if you missed them!). Touche’ Little Bean. Glad to know I’m not the only one enjoying this! Oh, and if anyone knows how I can convince her she’s not getting a “poodle doggie” for her birthday, that would be great. We might have to give the Bichon a creative haircut…
Great job with the voting – thanks everyone for the nice comments – the dogs are all just so adorable! I just posted an album of “Out Takes” on my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.205683462785444.48484.205683229452134#!/pages/FourFootPhotography/205683229452134
Can I get a “like” on my Facebook page? Thanks to those of you who have already “liked” my page and certainly for checking the blog! Anyone else? I dunno, MOM?! https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/FourFootPhotography/205683229452134 or search “FourFootPhotography” on Facebook. Thanks for your support!
