Kitsap Humane Society Adoptables ~ August 2015 ~ Kitsap County Pet Photographer ~ Four Foot Photography

KHS adoptables! Here are some of the cuties I met at Kitsap Humane Society last week! Some have already been adopted, but even more were coming in on a transfer as I finished up, so your ideal pet is waiting! … Continue reading

Kitsap Humane Society serves all of Kitsap County from Port Orchard to Bainbridge and coordinates with other shelters in state and out, to facilitate finding homes for animals at high kill shelters. I am thrilled to donate my time and talent to help find shelter animals quality forever homes!

Pitties and Kitties Adoption Event! #GetLuckyatKHS Kitsap County Pet and Lifestyle Photographer

Kitsap Humane Society   always has fun events planned – this month it is “Pitties & Kitties” – #GetLuckyatKHS. I met so many sweethearts photographing adoptables last week!

I so appreciate the flexibility of my business that allows me to volunteer at KHS and PAWS of Bainbridge, promoting adoption and photographing adoptable animals. The many volunteers and staff at the shelter work so hard to get the animals safely in the shelter, take care of their physical and behavioral needs and get them adopted into their forever situation. There is so much to be done, from dog walking, cat socializing, feeding, cleaning, veterinary care, marketing, outreach, foster, adoption consults, clerical duties, fund raising, board duties – it is my privilege to help show the love to potential adopters. It really does make a difference in getting more animals adopted! Here is a small example of before and after – intake photo on the top, “take me home and love me forever” photo below.

Adoptables on Feline Friday – Kitsap Humane Society – Kitsap Pet Photographer, Four Foot Photography

Feline Friday at Kitsap Humane Society was bright and clear, but nevermind that, we had a studio-style kitty shoot planned. These gorgeous four-foots hit the catwalk to strut their stuff for Four Foot Photography, and were they ever fabulous! A few were too shy to leave their condos, but they are just as sweet!

Four cats were adopted yesterday, one before I had even finished photographing them! Artie went to a great home, it was such a boost to me to see his happily ever after go down.

Kitsap Humane Society – Pet Photos with Santa – Kitsap County Pet Photographer

As many of you know, I donate my services to Kitsap Humane Society on a regular basis. This year I was asked to photograph pets with Santa at Kitsap Humane Society, a huge honor as this tradition goes back 30 years. Some of the folks who brought their furbabies have been coming every year for 8, 12 or more years, a phenomenal support for the shelter.

This year, with my time donated {and Santa of course pro bono}, attendees were issued digital files instead of print packages as in years past. While there was a smidge of confusion, this allowed the shelter to keep ALL the donations, which was a terrific boost. I enjoyed each and every one, and hope I have a chance to do it again!

National Cat Day | Kitsap County Pet Photographer | Four Foot Photography

Aha! Where are my feline-loving friends?! Today is National Cat Day, so I present a collage of some of my favorite kitteh pictures over the years. My own is among them – at just over 20 years old (but who is counting?) she is kind of loud and kind of gross, but I have lived with her longer than my husband, longer than my parents, she has outlived her share of dogs, and earned her queen status around here. Luckily, my husband is extremely patient and tolerant {because I am not even kidding about the gross}. Love you Jasmine.

Often I utilize a photo-ninja-sniper process with cats, so it tends to be more lifestyle, documentary photography, but can be really cool. Many of the cats in these images are rescues, and for most I was there to photograph the dogs, but I highly encourage you to photograph your cats as well, their personalities are so STRONG. Love it!

I had a great morning at Kitsap Humane Society yesterday and met so many cuties! It was Feline Friday, so mainly cats, but some great dogs as well. Just walking through the kennels I saw some spectacular, sweet doggehs and hope to get back soon to photograph them. Here are some favorite shots.

No Fooling Here! Kitsap County Photographer ~ Four Foot Photography

I super love love any time I get to spend photographing adoptable animals at Kitsap Humane Society, and this past Tuesday (April 1) was no exception. It was a beautiful day and I met so many delightful dogs, cats, bunnies and guinea pigs (and one little piggie who took one look at me and went into his plastic hut – not that there’s anything wrong with that!). I am in awe of the great work that is being done caring for, working with, and rehoming these beautiful little souls.

FFP Tribute to Sneaky the Wonder Cat – Kitsap County Photographer ~ Four Foot Photography

You love your animals. All of them. Their quirks, their paws, their cold noses, their slobber, their smell, their attitude, the way they walk. Every pet you have ever had (and some of you have had a lot!) lives in your heart, I know that. You always wish you had more time with them, but there’s one who was special. Your heart dog, your soul mate. They might have been gone for years, or it is the rescue you brought home last week, your puppy or your 8 year old cat, but they just get you, there is a connection, a deeper understanding. This post is a tribute to Sneaky, Dr Monica Wlodarchak’s best friend, her love, her confidante, advisor, keeper of secrets. She had to say goodbye to 19 year old Sneaky last week, and while she has other pets and has cared for so many others through Tender Touch Animal Hospital , Poulsbo Animal Clinic, and as an emergency vet, my heart breaks for her. Is it inevitable? Yes. Does that make it any easier? Not at all. I covet your prayers and positive ju-ju for her to get through the next few weeks.

If you click on the Tender Touch Animal Hospital link above, you can read Sneaky’s biography, and get a glimpse into his life with Dr Monica, from a tiny, abandoned kitten, to big cat on campus, to vet companion. 19 years of devotion. I first met Sneaky in the summer of 2011, while photographing the staff for their employee portraits – he lived up to his name! Dr Monica does have some beautiful artwork from that session to validate her years of memories, and I hope that is a small comfort. Many people tell me they are afraid they will forget the details of their furry companions, but I can tell you from experience I still remember each of my pets’ smell, their fur, their favorite things, although I last said goodbye in 2006. I saw Sneaky most recently at the Tender Touch Open House in September (the images with the blue sweater!), and watched in amazement as Dr Monica flipped him over and nonchalantly did a blood draw from his jugular mid sentence. He was really just there for her, hanging on to provide the love and companionship she needed. Sneaky was a one of a kind wonder cat, and to say he will be missed, well, it just isn’t enough. Love you little guy, rest well.

Kitsap Humane Society Adoptables – Feb 5, 2014 Kitsap County Photographer ~ Four Foot Photography

Kitsap Humane Society has an amazing corps of volunteers who selflessly care for the animals in transition, spending time away from their own furbabies, families, jobs and lives on a WEEKLY (and sometimes daily) basis, without recognition or compensation. These folks walk the dogs rain, shine, heat or cold. The dogs get so excited to go outside, not all of them remember their manners, but they all appreciate the kindness that is shown them. Volunteers help clean the kennels and the kitty boxes, socialize the animals, make soft blankets, collect food and funds, it goes on and on. Here are some of the cuties I met on Tuesday:

Be sure to check out the other adorable adoptables {here} on Shelter Buddy. Thanks, volunteers, for all you do!
