Dodge – er, rather, Dog Ball!

Introducing Tobey! Tobey is a 4 year old  Scottish Terrier mix, who was adopted from the Kitsap Humane Society when he was just a pup. Tobey looooves to play fetch and is uber-fast. He loves his family – Ally and her mom, his feline brother, Hunter, and new fishy friend, Mr. Sprinkles.  Hunter and  Mr. Sprinkles will be featured in upcoming blog posts, and all three will be displayed by Four Foot Photography at Pet Town (where Ally works) very soon – I will post again when the photos are up! I’m so glad Tobey has such a great home, I super wanted to tuck him in my camera bag and bring him home – he is tons of fun, such a happy guy!

Tumbler-ific!

I blogged last summer about the fantastic experience our family had at the Kitsap Humane Society, purr-curing Tumbler, kitty-in-residence at my dad and step-mom’s house; However, at that time I had NO idea of the scope and breadth of importance one little cast-off could have on his housemates. My dad retired at the end of August, and Tumbler has eased the transition fantastically. Tumbler’s neurological disorder is now nearly invisible – he has gained 4 pounds and can now jump up on inappropriate things, no longer stumbles, and is an endless source of entertainment. Dad and Tumbler nap together, play Tinkertoys and all sorts of games I didn’t know cats play. Tumbler waits outside the bathroom while Dad showers, and I’ve heard that my dad is even the “box attendant” – now that is love. We are constantly learning new things about Tumbler – we don’t always think to ask, so he has taken to writing letters to my kids. Nimble with the keyboard, he dictates to Dad when the computer is not available. I do not have conversations with my dad without him bringing up what a great cat he has. It is truly impossible to think of  life without him – thank you KHS!

Teeah’s Float Wrap Is Up!

Teeah’s float wrap, won at Tender Touch Animal Hospital’s Open House in a raffle to benefit the Humane Society, is finished and hung! Please stop by and see it in person at 27099 Miller Bay Road NE, Ste C in Kingston. I could not have asked for a better model or met nicer people!

Teeah!

Teeah was the winner of the Pet Photography session raffled off by the wonderful staff of Tender Touch Animal Hospital during their open house event August 20th to benefit the Humane Society. Her mom painstakingly filled out (at least 20) raffle tickets and entered them…Here is a sneak peek at the results! As you can see, Teeah is a polished model, maintaining her figure with plenty of walks and the occasional carrot indulgence. Her parents have twin human grandchildren, and Teeah LOVES to play ball with them. The result of a Capulet/Montague-esque meeting, Teeah is half Scotty and half Cairns, but all terrier! She is such a delight, I hope her breeder allows further breeches of security! Included in her prize, Teeah wins an 11 x 14 float wrap, which will be displayed at Tender Touch (27099 Miller Bay Rd NE, Ste C, Kingston) for 1 year, and then will go home with Teeah and her parents, Honey and Sweetheart (!).  I can’t wait to see which one is selected!

Community Animal Blessing & Pet Parade

I am so lucky! Today I attended The Friends of St Francis Animal Blessing at the Port Orchard Waterfront. It was a joint effort by 4 local churches, celebrating the importance of the pets in our lives. I saw so many beautiful dogs, a few brave cats, a goat and a chicken! There were purebreds and Humane Society rescues, young and old. Everyone was on their best behavior, at least one talented pooch even joined in a sing-a-long. Thank you to the organizers and so many who came out.
